Evil Sherm

Evil Sherm is a bonus character in Battle Craze, taking the place of Sherm if you select his Side-S. A what-if situation if Sherm goes back to huffing silver after he's practiced martial arts, Evil Sherm's sole purpose then on is to destroy.

Extended Story

There are many ancient fighting styles that are beyond what most martial artists can define as a discipline. Two of them share a similar philosophy on using the powers given to us through the Earth for different purposes. The first being the World Mending Fist, where you feel the connections of all living things to restore balance to the world in its time of need, and to connect further with the world through battle. The second is the World Rending Fist, where you use the energy of all things in nature to destroy, as if you were the God of Destruction himself. The latter is rarely seen, only once observed in public in one Battle Craze where Tandon Khan fought the current title holder, Michael Gardet, after he went berserk for unexplained reasons. The World Rending Fist has been deemed in the eyes of the public as an absolute danger to the safety of humanity and even labeled as a weapon of mass destruction in the wrong hands. Some secretly try to learn how to use this philosophy for their own needs, while others come across it by accident.

Before Sherm left for Battle Craze, he fell over the last of his liquid silver supply, forgetting to purge his home of the rest. He looks at it one last time, wondering what could happen if he returns to his ways.

Concept

Evil Sherm was a mix of two things. The first being the introduction to Side-C and Side-L, allowing for characters to have new takes on pre-existing moves, and Evil Sherm being a back burner idea for future characters. Due to Sherm's easy to edit animation style and the nature of Street Fighter edits, Evil Sherm was put in the roster. Since the introduction of Side-S, he relabeled to such to fit with the other unique Side-S characters.

Trivia

  • The kanji on Evil Sherm's back '痢' means 'diarrhea'. While this does feel like an inappropriate joke, it does have some origin from another evil character, Rasetsumaru, whose sword is named the Youtou: Torikabuto (妖刀・屠痢兜), or Demon Blade: Slaughtering Diarrheal Helmet. Also, the sword's name is meant to be a pun on the name of the Azure Monkshood plant, which has a similar color to the skin of both Rasetsumaru and Evil Sherm.
  • The word 'Messatsu' means 'Destroy' in Japanese.
