Extended Story

Baxter is one of BioCorps.'s longest running ideas that has only finished completion recently. The project was spearheaded by one of the founders, Bextar Backerman, a genius in calculations. He wanted to surpass modern computing technology by adding the organic element, thus the creation of the world's first supercomputer composed mostly of organic material. Taking science and studies from octopi, dolphins, apes, humans, fairies and chameleons in order to create a computer that has adaptability, empathy and processing ability. With years and years of tests to see if the unit can complete multitudes of equations under pressure, the project was deemed completed and ready for mass-production. It would be touted as a machine that can answer any and all questions, at a speed faster than what search engines can offer. With such a computer, the world of science can finally find the answers to the world's hardest questions, such as the possibilities of colonizing other planets, how to stop global warming while also making capital, and does love bloom on the battlefield? Bextar had just made his money machine, and won his medals.

But there was a huge problem.

The unit went missing. It seemingly vanished until security footage showed the mass of tubes and flesh squeeze its way through the toilet and out the waste chute. In truth, Bextar's biggest mistake was adding the organic element, as it can also feel stress and pain from all the tests that ran through it for all those years. Tired of all the math, science, biology and other trivial nonsense it had to put up with on a daily basis, it had enough. It wished for a simple life, but also had a deep hatred for mankind for making such a thing and disregarding its feelings. It had planned its escape longer than any of the research had showed, waiting for the right time.

The unit found its way on the United Kingdom mainland, and into the dumpster of a small and simple town. The unit dug itself into the sleeves of an abandoned chameleon puppet, all chewed up and muddled from the rain. But then, the unit got an idea. With a little bio-forming to the puppet, it could obtain a new body to live the life it so desires, and with that, the unit's tubes and flesh began to harmonize with the puppet, creating the Baxter we see now. With manipulation of extensive limbs thanks to their unique muscular structure and stitches, Baxter runs amok the people of the world, slaying anything in their way.

"Finally!! A life with no concerns! No problems! Not a care nor a equation for my sodding brain to take!!"

Movelist

Mobility
Dash, Run (Full Palette)
Unique Trait
Spin Speed Baxter’s special moves can deal more hits, damage and guard damage based on a speedometer. You can charge the speedometer’s 5 levels by using his Craze Technique or by holding down the button before executing Grey Cannon or White Catapult. You can also charge it by holding C.Tech after any special move. Spin Speed decays over time.
Input Move Name Description Dire Counter
Craze Technique
SP+SK Burn Roller Baxter rolls into a ball and revs up, powering up his Spin Speed.
Throws
LP+LK Maroon Appetizer Baxter bites his opponent numerous times before a final bite. The opponent crumples, giving Baxter ample time to charge Spin Speed.
b.LP+LK Sleet Bounce Baxter leaps above the opponent and slams them into the ground, whilst switching sides.
j.LP+LK Orange Riccochet Baxter winds up and bounces off the opponent, sending them to the ground. Baxter will quickly drop to the ground to give them an extra hit.
Command Normals
1SK Sky Blue Thrash Baxter swipes his leg across the floor. A fullscreen low. Crumple.
Specials
4(C)6P (AA) Grey Cannon Baxter balls up and shoots himself forwards. Ricochets off of the opponent on hit. Button determines speed. You can hold punch to delay the attack and charge up his Spin Speed. You can cancel this charge by pressing kick. Stagger
4(C)6K (AA) White Catapult Baxter bounces himself off the floor in this variant of the cannonball attack. Button determines speed and arc. You can hold kick to delay the attack and charge up his Spin Speed. You can cancel this charge by pressing punch. Air version just arcs downwards. Groundbounce
2(C)8P Blue Wave Baxter spins vertically for an anti-air attack that hits multiple times. Not invul at start. Button determines strength and number of hits. Buffed by Spin Speed. Power Launcher
214K (AA) Indigo Scream Baxter jumps forward and then extends his leg, bringing down both talons of his feet for an overhead slash. Button determines distance. Air version suspends him before coming down with the kick. Groundbounce

All-Out Destruction
214214LP+SP Full Palette Baxter’s Spin Speed is maxed out for a period of time, along with buffed general movement speed and a run. With this, Baxter can also cancel one special into another without charge time. His C.Tech becomes 'Crockpot Burner', which allows this buff to be briefly extended.

Side-L Changes

Unique Trait
Peel-Out Spin Speed is altered. While Baxter can immediately get max Spin Speed with his new C.Tech, the decay is much faster than Side-C, and he can no longer charge it with Grey Cannon or White Catapult.
Input Move Name Description Dire Counter
Craze Technique
SP+SK Violet Surge/Violet Shot Baxter quickly runs in place, maxing out his Spin Speed. He cannot refresh his Spin Speed until it is under one. If Baxter has at least one Spin Speed, he can use Violet Shot, a multi-directional, short range ball attack that can be cancelled from special moves to extend combos. Using this drops his Spin Speed to zero.
All-Out Destruction
236236LK+SK Polarized Flight Baxter extends his tongue out for a mid-range command grab. On hit, Baxter will lift up the opponent and then jump up, spinning before slamming them to the ground.

Side-S Changes

Unique Trait
Blood Motor Baxter's Spin Speed is determined by his Purple Health up to a point. Spin Speed increases the speed of his specials.
Input Move Name Description Dire Counter
Craze Technique
SP+SK Crimson Sunder Baxter injures himself with his claws, causing him to cut a chunk of his regular Health for Purple Health, which maxes out his Spin Speed.
SP+SK (AO) Lime Drop Baxter dives straight downwards for a quick overhead attack. He can also perform this move off of his wall cling from Saturated Rush. Groundbounce
6/4SP+SK (AO) Cerulean Leap Baxter does a small air dash forwards or backwards. He can cancel into this from any air normal. If he does backwards Cerulean Leap into the wall, he will cling onto it like he does in Lavender Perch.
4SP+SK Saturated Rush Baxter runs up to the wall behind him, and then runs up the wall itself. From here, he can do a few things.
LP (During Saturated Rush) Cobalt Bomber Baxter dives downwards off the wall into the ground. Overhead attack. Stagger
SP (During Saturated Rush) Amber Tear Baxter flies forwards, spinning violently. He can follow up this move with Lime Drop. Wallbounce
4SP+SK or 44 (During Saturated Rush) Lavender Perch Baxter will cling onto the wall. If he does nothing, he will skid down the wall before returning to neutral. You can still perform any of the other follow-ups to Saturated Rush as long as you hold onto the wall.

Concept

Baxter was inspired by one of Janis' childhood plushes, a chameleon puppet named Baxter, and a chameleon character drawn at a young age. He would eventually become more villainous with every revision.
