Extended Story

One thing that has baffled historians is the recent discovery of a species that lay dormant underneath the surface of the Earth since the beginning of time. How this is information only being brought to light now is confusing, but here’s what they currently know: This species is known as the Automatus. They are semi-organic, and semi-mechanical, being mostly composed of an element called Automatomite. They behave and have the same needs as any human being, but are given liberties with their appearance and abilities. They all live in an underground continent called Automogaia, spread across various cities. Some names include Automoville, Automodale, Automocago, Automoplex and Automotopolis, the capital. Some have said there do lie Automatus civilizations on the surface, but this is yet to be proven by geographers or scientists. Strangely, the Automatus sometimes mirror the lives of people that already exist, either from this world or others. What ties them to us or completely different universes isn’t fully understood, but it is a fact that some have to take at face value. Given the current events at Battle Craze, we do know of one such Automatus that displays this trait; Robo-Tsugumi. Despite the outward appearance and sharing some aspirations with Tsugumi Honda, she sometimes shows mannerisms, goals and fighting skills similar to someone from Universe-LCD, the world that Teri comes from. She has been spotted for the sake of research, but anyone that tried was beaten to a pulp. What was gathered from her quips is that she actually doesn’t care that much about the deeper meaning of her kind. She simply aspires to become a pop star. She makes her way to Battle Craze to join the likes of her biggest inspiration, THE CRUSADING STARS.

"I DON’T CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK OF ME, BECAUSE I’M GONNA BE A STAR! BEEP BEEP."

Concept

Robo-Tsugumi was an idea that was made sometime before the production of Battle Craze. Originally Robo-Tsugumi was going to have her own movelist and set of sprites, but a compromise was made when Side-S was pitched. Once la tirania was pitched as a character with a distinct appearance, QREAPER and Robo-Tsugumi were pitched as candidates for the same treatment.

Trivia

  • Some of Robo-Tsugumi’s lines quote Neon J from No Straight Roads. This is a roundabout nod to his status as a cyborg, as well as Tsugumi’s VA also being a part of No Straight Roads.
  • ’ERROR 404’ has a double meaning, as the number 4 in Japanese is associated with death.
  • Robo-Tsugumi’s movelist comes from a character DrKelexo had planned for his own game, Project Lucid, as Tsugumi had the sprites to make that a reality. This fact is also referenced in Robo-Tsugumi’s intro against Teri.
