Extended Story

The Reaper Units are one of the many shelved projects of BioCorps., an organization that focuses on the advancements of biological, robotic and mathematical science for the sake of mankind. The project was spearheaded by the current head of BioCorps., only known as MR. BOSS, and built with the research and effort of Mustapha Ibrahim. The initial idea for the project was to create a series of humanoid robots with adaptable armor in response to a threat against its owner, whether it be just a family or an entire country. Mustapha had realized too late into development that such power can be abused in the wrong hands, and MR. BOSS had never intended for the Reapers to be peace-keeping robots, but instead sell to various armies across the world to ignite a world war that would have BioCorps. rolling in dirty, military capital. With only 5 Reaper Units developed, Mustapha had decided it was for the best to scrap the project despite MR. BOSS' demands, and had sent the units to the bottom of the Bay of Gibraltar. A new project would take its steed and Mustapha would disappear seemingly from the face of the public eye.

That was 20 years ago. Recently, a scuba trip by out-goers on the Bay of Gibraltar had found the remaining Reaper Units, encased in a rusted, steel coffin. With assistance from passerby fishermen, they hauled up the coffin and pried open the door, bewildered at their gain. Only one of these units had activated on accident, and startled the group, fearing it would kill them. All the unit did was question why it was here.

After Reaper's awakening, and breakout of news on their appearance, the unit had fled the United Kingdom as the press would confuse them greatly. Their memory drive was slightly corrupted by the time spent underwater, erasing the data involving Mustapha, and MR. BOSS' purpose as a machine built for war. Without much direction, they had ended up in France, at the doorsteps of the Gardet Estate. The owner, Isabella Marisa Gardet, took notice of the unit meandering at their doorsteps and offered her abode as theirs to figure out themselves. Over time, Reaper took charge of the estate's chores, up until Isabella had begun work on the next Battle Craze Tournament. Reaper had gotten free admission to the tourney thanks to her, but they also went to participate as Isabella hinted that the one who created them might be present, and the company involved.

"BioCorps... Such a name sounds familiar, but isn't registered in depth in my memory drive. I'll see to this."

Movelist

Mobility
Dash, Double Jump, Air Dash
Unique Trait
Energy Meter Reaper's Craze Gauge is tied to their special moves. The meter has 6 pips, which means you need double the pips to perform Craze Cancel actions. The meter also is charged manually through Reaper's Craze Technique. Each special has a High Power version which uses a pip, and a Low Power version with no pips. High Power moves have better properties than Low Power, so maintaining this meter is crucial.
Input Move Name Description Dire Counter
Craze Technique
SP+SK C_Tech_Type-Solar_Deploy Reaper drops behind an external unit that deploys a solar panel. Having this unit on screen charges up Reaper's Energy Meter, but the opponent can attack it and render it useless. The unit disappears if the screen moves away from it.
Throws
LP+LK Throw_Type-Blow_Back Reaper charges energy into the opponent’s gut, then releases. Rare instance of a throw that doesn’t knock down.
b.LP+LK Throw_Type-Reverse_Blow_Back Same as above but reversed.
j.LP+LK Throw_Type-Jet_Circle Reaper flies up off screen, then dives into the ground with the opponent.

Button determines placement. Stagger
63214P Special_Type-Nebula_Storm Uses Energy. Reaper charges a sphere of swirling energy close to their person for a multi-hit attack. LP version has the sphere closer to Reaper's chest, while SP has the sphere above Reaper as an anti-air. High Energy version has increased damage and a slight vacuum effect. Extra Damage

Concept

Reaper was one of the few characters to make it through every iteration of Battle Craze in its conception, albeit a lot more alien-like in design. The shift to a more humanoid appearance was influenced by Sektor and Cyrax of Mortal Kombat fame, and also the inspiration for their story finding their own sense of humanity.

Trivia

  • Reaper codenumber, "X-G0F", is a reference to the Nintendo racing game, F-Zero GX, albeit reversed. Their birthdate, July 25th, is also reference to this game's release in Japan.
