Q: What engine does Battle Craze use?

A: Currently, Battle Craze runs on IKEMEN GO, an evolution of the MUGEN engine that has a few new features, including online play.

Q: Will you continue to develop Battle Craze in IKEMEN GO, or move onto something else?

A: We plan to use the public beta as a proof of concept and give people an easy way to get their hands on the game. We also plan to make a new engine in Game Maker to later be put onto Steam and Itch.io.

Q: When it does have a proper release, how much will it go for?

A: We've actually been contemplating the idea to make the game itself free, but make characters purchasable, much like League of Legends, Paladins or Killer Instinct. At least a few characters will be on rotation for free and not cost too much, and possibly offer bundles to save and buy characters in bulk. This choice isn't final, but we'll make this clearer once we made a concrete choice.

Q: Will Battle Craze come to console?

A: I can't make any promises.

Q: What are Battle Craze's influences? What does it play like?

A: Battle Craze is a love letter to the fighting game genre, so it does have a lot of inspiration from a lot of places. It feels like a more grounded take on Chaos Code in terms of normals and canceling, with the character unique elements from Street Fighter V and Guilty Gear's Roman Cancels. Me actually getting this project off of the ground was thanks to the hard work put into other MUGEN fullgames, such as SeanAltly's SHADES of Manhattan series, TTTTTsd's Fighter's History Dynasties and Kamekaze's TMNT X Justice League. I would recommend checking out and supporting those games too.

Q: Why are the sprites so small? Why aren't they shaded?

A: To emphasize the animation aspect of the game, and to quicken the amount of time needed to sprite everyone planned, we sacrificed shading on the sprites. If I were to shade them, there would just be like, one extra color for each part of the sprite anyways.

Q: Why the name 'Battle Craze'? Isn't there some game already called that?

A: Battle Craze is the combination of the original name, 'Crazy Fighter' and the proposed name by one of my high school friends 'Battle Rage'. There is no other Battle Craze but this one. You might be thinking of SNES fighter, Battle Blaze, whose only noteworthy trait is being played by Capcom employees, and being developed by what would become Sammy.

Q: How long as Battle Craze been in the works for?

A: Conceptually, this game has been in my brain since middle school, approx. 2008/2009. In terms of code thanks to Kelexo, the game had started production sometime in October of 2019.

Q: How do I rebind my keys?

A: When you start IKEMEN GO for the first time, your default layout has the arrow keys for movement, and ASD,ZXC as your buttons. You are able to config these in the Options or in game after pausing.

Q: How long does it take for a character to be finished?

A: Approx. a month. There are exceptions, with Ajit taking six, since he was the first.

Q: Will there be DLC after the roster is complete?

A: I won't make this promise either. We have enough on our plate as it is.

Q: How can I support the game?

A: Spread the word, tell your friends, donate to me or my friends. I do have art commissions always open.
